About

    The Department has the pride of getting established in the year 1955. The college was opened with the sole aim of providing facility for higher education to the wards of families in and around Mayiladuthurai, whose major profession was farming. It is not an exaggeration to say that most families in this region could not have thought of higher education but for our college. The B.Sc., degree course in Mathematics was started in the year 1957 . The department got elevated as P.G department in 1969. The M.Phil., Part-time course was started 1984.More than 100 M.Phil scholars have got their M.Phil., degree. 14 faculty members are with Ph.D., faculty have submitted their Ph.D thesis and three are doing Ph.D., in different areas like Generalised inverse matrices, Fuzzy Mathematics, Mathematical modeling, and Operations research etc., and rest of the staff members have M.Phil. More than seventy five papers were published in National and International journals by faculty members and students. The evening section B.Sc., (Mathematics) and M.Sc., (Mathematics) courses were started in the year 2003 and 2004 respectively and one more section in B.Sc., (Mathematics) was added in the year 2014. Our department was recognized as Ph.D. research centre  from 2014 -15 for full-time and part-time scholars. At present, two scholars obtained their Ph.D degrees and 13 Ph.D scholars are pursuing research.

VISION:-

To create awareness in mental aptitude and to enrich in-depth knowledge in mathematics among the students of this rural area.

MISSION:-

To make the students employable by involving them to take part in various competitive examinations and motivate them to present   papers in various National and International seminars/conferences.

 INFRASTRUCTURE FACILITIES

  • Our department has 12 computer systems with internet facilities.

  • Modern equipments like OHP, LCD, visualizer and IQ Board.

  • Two LCD class room is available for our department students. 

  • MATLAB software installed in 10 computers at a cost of 3.5 lakhs.

  • Organizing special lectures and Seminars on emerging research areas periodically.

  • PG students are encouraged for Research paper publications.

    2. Eligibility:  A Pass in +2 with compulsory Mathematics as a paper with Physics, Chemistry/Statistics
