The Department was established in the year 2003. The Department of Bioinformatics offers two years post graduate programme [M.Sc] in Bioinformatics and one year Post Graduate Diploma in Bioinformatics [PGDBI] was started in 2005, with focus on traditional strengths in science and with emphasis on experimental, practical oriented approach.  We offer innovative academic programmes and continuously upgrade our curriculum with futuristic approach. Our goal is to provide the best post graduate level education, with programmes designed to meet the challenges that our graduates will face throughout the career.

The Department of Bioinformatics was started in the year 2003-2004 under the guidance of the Department of zoology. As this course was started in this rural area “Mannampandal” it leads to many job opportunities to the rural community in this competitive world.

The Department has well qualified faculty members in the fields of Bioinformatics and Computer Science. The objective of the Department is to facilitate the job opportunities through practical oriented knowledge.  Resources available at the Department are freely accessible to its user community.
